I had so much fun putting this list together as I can’t wait to go swimming this summer. These gift ideas are perfect for those that love spending a day out at the lake, pool or beach!

Gifts of Time

Gift them Homemade After Sun Relief Gel: A simple 3 ingredient relief gel can be quickly put together as a cute gift. Busy Creating Memories Blog recommends 3 TBS 100% Clean + Easy Aloe Vera, 15 drops of Lavender Essential Oil, and 15 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil to be mixed and placed into a 2-3 ounce jar (or upcycle a baby food jar!).

Gift them a Water Blob Pillow: While Hello, Wonderful created their water blobs for kids, I like the idea of using them as large pillows to rest on. Ultimately, you cut clear plastic sheeting (> 4 Mil) to the desired size (I’d recommend 23″ x 75″ for the equivalent of two king sized pillows), place parchment paper around the edge and iron on medium-high to seal the plastic together – leaving one small opening, add blue food coloring and fill with water and then duct tape shut (use clear duct tape or a pattern that they’ll enjoy).

Waves in a Bottle

Gift Hypnotizing Bottled Waves: In a clear glass bottle (with lid), fill slightly more than half with dyed blue water, and then slowly fill the rest of the way with clear baby oil (you can use vegetable/canola oil but baby oil provides the coolest effect). Rock it back and forth to enjoy the soothing waves on those days that they can’t make it out for a swim.

Tangible Gifts

Chill Pal Color Changing Mesh Cooling Towel: I first used a similar product during a trip to Thailand and it was amazingly effective at cooling you down, but if it dried out you couldn’t use it again. This seems like a much better version, because you simply wet it, squeeze it and then snap it to get it to work. You wet it again after it has evaporated off and it doesn’t dry stiff and changes color to let you know when it’s time to add more water.

Fast Drying Microfiber Eden Cove Beach Towel:
I hate carrying around heavy wet towels after a nice day swimming. These seem like a much better alternative as they are large in size, but not as heavy, and are super absorbent so you dry off quicker. They dry faster than cotton towels as well!

Super Large Sand Free Beach Blanket: This is a huge over-sized blanket that fits up to 7 adults on it, is light weight as it is made out of nylon, filters out sand so you don’t bring it home and is waterproof as well.

Waterproof Wireless Speaker: This waterproof speaker by AOMAIS comes with a float so you can have it out in the water with you and plays audio wirelessly from your PC or phone. The reason why I have it on this list? It’s because it has bluetooth capabilities and can answer phone calls hands-free without having to get out of the water.

Sport-Brella X-Large Umbrella: This is a great gift for the person who is always in search for the perfect shaded spot! It’s less bulky than other sunshades, doesn’t require as much set-up time, still offers privacy and can be angled perfectly no matter where the sun happens to be.

The Undress by The Undress: This is a dress that allows a woman to change from one outfit into another without having to get naked, which is perfect for the beach, pool and camping! I typically stay away from products that are gender specific – BUT I’m making an exception here. The reason? Without needing to wait in long lines to change clothes – no one else in the group needs to wait either!

Seaview 180° GoPro Compatible Snorkel Mask: Snorkeling without the awkward mouthpiece and the ability to see more through your mask than the traditional snorkel masks! Plus you can hook up your GoPro camera to it so that you don’t have to swim and hold it.

Powerbreather Wave Snorkel: This only allows air to come through the top of the snorkel and no water will get in even out in choppy open waters or when doing flips in the pool during laps!

UFLOAT Recreational Life Jacket:  It doesn’t look fashionable, which is why I’m including the video in case you haven’t seen this before. It allows you to float vertically in the water, swimming and snorkeling easier than traditional life jackets and is especially nice for adult non-swimmers. Additional perks? Hair stays dry and you don’t have to worry about life jacket tan lines. To see it in action – click here.

Hyde Wingman Inflatable Life Jacket: This is the thinnest life jacket on the market and is ideal for those who are a bit more adventurous and active in the water! Order directly from www.hyde-sportswear.com now for 20% off MEMORIAL DAY SALE (Code MEMORIALDAY)! If you or know someone who is an avid surfer, kayaker, SUPer, sailor or any other outdoors enthusiast that would be interested in this product – check out their ambassador program – if qualified they will send you free gear!

ReefBoard A1 Basic Sea Sled Bodyboard: Now this wouldn’t be a great gift for most given you wouldn’t want to travel with this – but it is a great gift for someone who lives, has a vacation home or has a rental out in a tropical location where snorkeling is commonplace. It allows you to see what’s under you without having all the snorkel gear. A kid’s inflatable version is called the Sea Window Jellyfish Snorkeling Window.

Gift of Experience

Give the Gift of a Pool Membership or Private Lessons: If the person loves swimming and they voice a desire to be faster or swim with better form, then this may be a great idea to gift them with at a local pool.

Give the Gift of a Day at the Lake, Beach, Swimming Hole, Natural Springs or Water Park: There are so many options that it really depends on what the person enjoys most about getting out in the water – Do they like crowds or prefer to find an isolated spot? Do they like relaxation or a more active day in the water? Are they more of a swimmer or a lounger? Do they prefer swimming in chlorinated/filtered water or in natural waters? Find out what they like and get them there!

Gift a Day at a Water Obstacle Course at Wake Island Waterpark in Pleasant Grove – I bet there will be more of these parks opening up, but this one is especially worth noting as it has 50 floating obstacle courses that interlock with one another, as well as, boat-less wake-boarding!

Gift a Perfectly Shaded Swimming Experience at The Homestead Crater at Midway, Utah: Why is this perfectly shaded – it’s underground! The water is usually a warm 90-96 degrees Fahrenheit and is perfect for swimming or snorkeling, but also scuba diving as it is 65 feet deep! The beehive-shaped dome is 55 feet tall and is made of limestone rock. It has a hole that lets in fresh air and natural light as well. Archaeologists are interested as there is a silt layer that is 8-14 feet deep and are finding all sorts of artifacts in the silt that has been dropped into the crater.

Extreme Gift of a Private Natural Swimming Pool at Playa del Amor in the Marietas Islands, Mexico: This hidden beach has been closed to the public as of May 2016 for conservation efforts but is reportedly open to visitors again, but only to a small number of people at a time. This beach is encircled by a rock formation that is seemingly invisible from the sea as it is only accessible through a long water tunnel that you swim or kayak through. It truly is a private beach and is now on my personal bucket list!

Extreme Gift of Going to the Largest Swimming Pools in the World: The two largest swimming pools in the world are built by the same company, with one being the San Alfonso del Mar in Algarrobo, Chile (20 acres big of crystal clear saltwater) and the other is the CityStars pool in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt (30 acres big!). These pools are so large that you can swim, sail and kayak in them!

Gift of Charity

Swim Across America: Help them in their mission to raise money to fund cancer-related clinical trials and research through donations or by sponsoring a swimmer or a team at one of their benefit swim events.

Micheal Phelps FoundationYou’ve likely heard of him, but if not he is the most decorated Olympian of all time with a total of 28 medals as a competitive swimmer. The foundation aims to promote healthier and more active lifestyles by creating more opportunities for participation in the sport of swimming and has a strong partnership with the Boys & Girls Club.

Alliance for the Great Lakes: Did you know that the Great Lakes make up 20% of the world’s supply of surface freshwater? They work through advocacy, volunteering efforts, education and research to protect these waters. You can donate directly or also purchase a $10 Great Lakes Benefit Bracelet from Hyde (the company that makes the thinnest life jacket on the market) and they’ll donate $1 to this charity.

    1. I think back to all my underwater cameras from the 90s and how the pictures would always show a partial fish. A Go Pro would be awesome for snorkeling! 😀
